When I started planning my trip to New York City with my family, I already started worrying about our accommodations. I hadn’t been to New York since I was 9 and didn’t know what location would be safest, convenient, and close to everything we wanted to see.
I knew my first option to research was Hilton since we’ve been Hilton Honors members for a long time. Everything I initially saw was for the standard double bed room. This scenario used to be perfect, but we’re now a family of five…and one is a small toddler. I knew I needed space, a fridge, and hopefully a free breakfast!
Thank goodness the new Homewood Suites Manhattan by Hilton was open for business! This hotel was a haven for my family! I got a king bedroom efficiency which included a kitchen, a king size bed, and a sleeper sofa. The hotel had everything that I was looking for to make the most comfortable stay for my family. Every reservation includes a hot breakfast buffet daily, a hot dinner Monday-Thursday, and a beverage station available all day long. We usually try to stay at a Homewood Suites whenever we travel, so this was such a blessing!
The spacious foyer offered a coffee/tea/beverage stand and lots of comfy seating to watch TV, lounge, or eat breakfast.
The breakfast area offered lots of great options (I think one morning there were ready made egg omelets filled with corned beef hash?). It did get crowded by 9AM…so get there early!
Adjacent to the dining area was a cute courtyard…I almost didn’t see it! Another oasis for relaxation in the heart of the city! It was so pretty and quiet in there!
Our room had a kitchenette complete with a very large fridge, dishwasher, sink and cooktop!
The cupboards were fully stocked for a comfortable stay!
Sorry for the messy picture, but my excitement of being in NYC for the first time since I was 9 made me overlook getting a “clean shot” of the room! The entire hotel and all of the rooms were extremely clean and chic. At least you can see the scale of the room a little bit from here.
We had a king bed suite with a pull out sofa.
The bathrooms were clean and a decent size as well. It had a shower, no tub, but that was totally fine with us!
Another neat find was that upstairs was a rooftop deck to enjoy as well!
The view was actually pretty decent!
The location at 37th Street and 8th Avenue was excellent and was at the crux of the garment district, the theater district, and Times Square. Times Square was only minutes away! We also were a really short walk (possible up to 10 minutes) from the delicious restaurants at Restaurant Row (46th Street between 8th and 9th Avenue). My husband and I ate at Sangria and had our first authentic paella! We also loved how it was just a few blocks from Penn Station. It was a breeze to arrive and leave the city!
I’ll definitely choose to come here again next time I visit New York. It made for a very pleasant first trip there!
